It was a rare opportunity for the Ladies Connect Initiative and Gracious Souls to touch the lives of widows and children at abúlé orí yanrìn( Apo), Quarry Road, Abeokuta, Ogun State on the 3rd of April, 2020.
In view of the rampaging global pandemic, COVID 19, which has occasioned lockdown. The organizations carried out a sensitization program to widows and the children and also shared foodstuffs like Rice, tomato puree, salt, indomie, Maggi, and milk.
The gesture was targeted at cushioning the effect of the hard biting lockdown as a result of the pandemic which has rendered more women and children hungry.
In addition to that, we also sensitized the widows on the following: personal hygiene, female relegation and sexual violence or assault maintaining that such criminal offences should be reported to the appropriate authority.
Speaking to the Ogun State Television. I urged the Ogun state government, Ministry of Women Affairs and well-meaning people in the society to assist and support us in empowering widows and children during this COVID 19 outbreak and after.
Appreciation to all the people who supported our work. Together, we can still reach more widows.
